This was the first time I attended a Young Lions Music Club event. It was in the Burroughes Building on Queen West and I loved the space. It’s almost a hidden away little space on top of the 6th floor and many people made it up all the flights of stairs. The first band of the night was the Bicycles.

One of our 2011 NXNE The Elwins have released an album (for pay what you want) on their Bandcamp that feature Dr. EW and Thomas. It’s a pretty interesting collection of songs. It’s like if you took the Elwin’s EP and added a hint of soul to it. It’s definitely groovy. On a really unrelated note, I dedicate this song to my bichon-poodle Teddy.

[NXNE] The Elwins Live at the Kelp Records BBQ- June 17th, 2011

When I saw these dudes on stage, I realize I had met them the night before. They’re a couple of funny dudes with great personalities and this transcribed on the stage. I love that the one guy has a mustache with curled ends. He came out to random people (including me) and made them all start dancing. Their music is sort of a laid back light pop. Its the kind of music that just simply makes feel happy. It was a perfect fit for the BBQ. They sold their EP in physical form on locationfor pay what you want but it is also free for download on their website.
