darcys
The Darcys have announced the September 17th release of Warring, the final installation of a trilogy of releases. The album will focus on The Darcys love of post-soul and jazz, which of course will be done in their own signature style. The title comes from the idea of moving forward after competing and surviving.

“The River” is available in exchange for a share on their website.

Edgefest 2012
This isn’t the first time I’ve been to Edgefest, but it’s the first time I was covering it. The day was hot, so much that I bought 3 $6 lemonades to quench my thirst. There were 3 stages, the main stage, side stage as well as the EDM tent that was introduced this year. I managed to get some of all three. Continue Reading

Seems like The Darcys are always giving us free goodies! Well today, they released another set of songs called AJA which they have released for free download in exchange for an e-mail here. The 7 songs are soulful pieces of distorted rock and a take on Steely Dan’s 1977 album. The Darcy’s music is never void of sound and AJA continues to prove this point.

Filmed in Toronto, The Darcys new video shows an evacuation into a huge airship thing in the sky. Oh and by the way, their self-titled album is free for an e-mail address on their Website. Whoa the image of hte CN tower crumbling is spectacular. Could this be the prediction of 2012? If it is, I hope there is a giant aircraft coming to rescue us in Toronto.

Congrats to The Darcys for getting signed to Arts & Crafts where they will be releasing their self titled album October 25th, 2011. Man I remember a few months ago they were unknown to me and playing Steam Whistle Unsigned. It’s great to hear a band grow up and do so well! Take a listen to Shaking Down the Old Bones, the first single from the new release. I love the light vocals that seem to float through a dense cloud of sound.

STEAM WHISTLE UNSIGNED- Friday April 29th

As you know we had the contest to win tickets to this event. I managed to catch Freedom or Death and The Darcys before running out to a friend’s birthday party.

It was a good thing we arrived early because by 10:30 the place was packed and there was a line up out the door because Steamwhistle Brewry had reached capacity. There were people of all kinds here. Fans, college kids and some people who were obviously worked in the industry

To give you a little background on the event, Steamwhistle Unsigned has been known to show off upcoming talent. Dinosaurs and The Rural Alberta Advantage were contenders before their current successes.
