Amanda Zelina and her band the Coppertone have been quite the buzz in the Canadian music industry, including appearances at this year’s NXNE. I loved her album Hidden Dreams, this number comes off the album she released in May called Hymns for the Hollow. Fall in love with her passionate bluesy rock.

I started my Saturday by heading to the SOCAN/BMI party. There was a ton of free food and friendly people around. I wish there was a larger turnout since the acts that they had lined up here were pretty awesome. I didn’t find out about this until last minute so maybe it wasn’t advertised much to the general public.

The first up was The Coppertone who in real life looks like a prettier version of Lindsay Lohan. She performed (shortened) tracks off her recent release Hidden Dreams and I think I may like her performance live better than the album itself. I loved the energy she put into each track and being in the same room with that energy was infectious.

I’ve fallen in love with The Coppertone’s edginess since I first came across their album Hidden Dreams. It was my most played for a quite some time and for some strange reason I kept thinking I had already blogged about it, but I didn’t so here it is! Well, I’m happy to announce that they’ve been signed to Dine Alone. Congratulations to them! Amanda Zelina edgy rock-blues attitude throughout the album is just so badass it’s addictive and infectious. Looks like she’ll be making an appearance at NXNE on June 18th at the El Mocambo! Can’t wait to check her out live.
