Samantha Savage Smith was one of those names I kept hearing over and over again at NXNE. I didn’t a chance to check out any of her live sets back then but I finally checked out her self-titled album that was released back in March. From Calgary, the singer-songwriter effectively communicates some rather tongue and cheek songs emotionally. I love that it isn’t just an acoustic background to underly her track but rather a gritty guitar and at times heavy rhythm, but her voice can still carry through. I know you might be skeptical about checking out yet another female folk-sounding singer but she has a charisma that will fail to disappoint.
