Regina sweethearts Rah Rah will be releasing a 7″ Little Poems June 12, 2012. The track is getting me excited for the release of The Poet’s Dead which will be available sometime this fall. The group never really stops making music in between albums as members are also part of The Lonesome Weekends and of course Erin Passmore’s solo project. Rah Rah will also be playing NXNE on June 15th at the Dakota Tavern.

I was attending the concert on a date and not as media so didn’t have my SLR on me, excuse the iPhone photos. We had bought the tickets earlier the day of and had no idea that Sara Lowes and Rah Rah would be opening but it was a pleasant surprise. Continue Reading

Rah Rah was supposed to have released their EP The Sailor 2 days ago but I haven’t seen a trace of it yet on their own sites or label sites. The EP will feature 3 tracks, Chimneys, Sailors, and Towers. Maybe they got too distracted at SXSW to remember their release! Here’s one of the tracks Chimneys with guitar parts that sound like the horn of a boat. Otherwise it has that Rah Rah sound we loved in their previous release Breaking Hearts.

[Listen/Download] Rah Rah- Ghosts

Rah Rah are no newbies. They won “Best New Canadian Band” as well as “Best New Alternative Band” by iTunes back in 2009. Originating from Regina Saskatchewan, the collective known as Rah Rah are a force to be reckoned with. A friendly and playful force though as you hear in Ghosts from their latest album Breaking Hearts. The lovely duet plays with some beautiful lyrics of longing after separation but employs a rather positive light as if remembering the good old days of childhood. As Rah Rah’s band description states, they write songs “built to break your heart” and if you listen closely at the dialog, it might just break yours
