I also managed to catch Louise Burns’ set at the Drake. She looks so young and cute! Members of Gold and Youth also joined in her set. She performed tracks off her album Mellow Drama. They were great songs but I felt like the set needed a bit more life. Maybe she was just tired after SXSW.

Here’s the latest video from Louise Burns for Drop Names Not Bombs off her album Mellow Drama. I’d love to Karaoke at a place that has indie music. Hah!

We’re finally coming closer to the release date of Louise Burn‘s EP Mellow Drama which comes out March 4. Here’s another track that comes off the EP called Paper Cup. I can definitely hear the groovy influences from her experience as a bass player in Lillix. This is a rockin’ track with very familiar vibes.

[Listen/Download] Louise Burns- What Do You Wanna Do

You might not have heard of Louise Burns but I’m sure you have heard of Lillix or Tigerlily. They had been signed by Maverick Records which was Madonna’s label at the time and garnered 2 nominations at the 2004 Junos. Louise felt herself stuck in a rut, writing “songs for radio”, and soon she decided that the mainstream route was not what she wanted, so she started her own solo project. Her love is 50s and 60s pop and rock, of which you hear major influences in her solo works. Take a listen to What Do You Wanna Do off the future April 2011 release Mellow Drama. You can hear that she’s doing what she loves, but she still shows off her ability to write pop songs.
