Kalle Mattson was probably my most anticipated performance of the entire CMW and he didn’t disappoint. He played old music (included the infamous Thick as Thieves) and some new songs from the upcoming EP Lives in Between. He even busted out the harmonica! They had a red vinyl version of Anchors on sale at the show and I seriously regret forgetting to pick one up.

Kalle Mattson’s Anchors was probably the most underrated album last year until the video for Thick as Thieves went viral. Now he’s back with another release Lives in Between EP which will be out March 1st, 2012. Here’s a new track Water Falls highlighting Kalle’s unique style of experimental folk. The background vocals sound at first like they shouldn’t fit, but as you listen on, it becomes an integral part of creating some really weird tension. Then a trumpet solo ends the song. No idea how it arrived there (maybe I held my breath for too long?), but the ride to it was awesome.
