On Friday, I attended Bookie’s Big Blast mostly because I wanted to see Eight and a Half. I thought they were actually the first band on and I was insanely early. However, I had made it just in time to catch newcomers named Dismaj.

The band is from Cambridge, Ontario. They’re kind of a strange progressive rock band with some world flare. I definitely heard some east asian influences, it was kind of neat. Before heading back to the Rivoli I was glad I got a chance to catch Dinosaur Bones. I was afraid of the acoustics of being outside not working in their favour, but I was wrong, it was a hell of an outside set with all the effects and everything sounding as they should. As much as I loved volunteering at the Rivoli all week, I wish I had stayed for the entire show. What was better than awesome music, free beer on a rooftop? Thank you Verge!

For some strange reason I have not talked about Dinosaur Bones yet, which isn’t right since I’ve been watching the Toronto quintet for quite a while. They’ve been playing around town plenty, as well as around the continent and at SXSW. They just dropped their album My Divider. Check out N.Y.E. a well blended work of indie-pop, an art that Dinosaur Boens have perfected and improved in since they started.
