I miss Basia Bulat. I hope she releases something else soon! Here was a great track from her 2010 release Heart of My Own. She’s still currently playing around Canada though and there are dates up on her website, including the Massey Hall performance that honors Leonard Cohen.

I don’t believe I’ve blogged about Basia Bulat yet so I thought she’d deserve a mention. I’m in a little bit of a folk mood today so she naturally turned up in my playlist. After her 2010, album Heart of My Own, she had been touring around the world and recently came home to be a part of Junofest. Her style of folk is more arrangement heavy and dense with sound. I Was a Daughter is a bit of a blast from the past coming off her 2007 album Oh, My Darling. I’m still in love with this track. There’s something about the simple harmony building up into something much bigger that keeps me revved up.
