We don’t have many of them on our list, but meet Old Time Machine. They have a really lovely blend of sound with ukuleles, mandolins, and vintage electronics. Although their music often sounds like there are many people involved they are basically 2 people who just play a bunch of rules. If you’re interested in seeing this enacted live they are playing May 23 @ the Supermarket.

Born in Ontario but now residing in Winnipeg, the adventure has had influence on Jenny Berkel’s sound. She’ll be releasing her debut album Here on a Wire on May 1st, 2012. The album will have lovely arrangements which include cello, french horn among other instruments. Check out Love is a Stone.

Charlottetown’s North Lakes is set to release their sophomore album on May 15th, 2012. It was recorded in a church by Adam Gallant (Boxer the Horse, Al Tuck, English Words). Check out this new track Grab Me By the Lapel which shows off the great energy a band from a tiny island can hold.

The Odd Socks embodies a lot of the east coast sound, which makes sense considering they are from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. You can get their entire self-titled album free on Bandcamp. Most of the songs have the garage dirty unpolished feel to it. While their songs need some work production with, they have some pretty weird quirky lyrics.
