Argh, why didn’t someone remind me it was Weird Tuesday? Not to worry, here’s a great video (if repetitive) by Sinoia Caves. It’s from the soundtrack to the Canadian sci-fi movie ‘Beyond the Black Rainbow’.

dan mangan

Great new song by Dan Mangan (now billed as Dan Mangan + Blacksmith). “Vessel” is not only the first single from his upcoming album, it is also an integral component to the soundtrack for the new Simon Pegg film ‘Hector And The Search For Happiness’. Mangan and Jesse Zubot (Tanya Tagaq, Stars, Hawksley Workman) also composed the film’s score.

Dreamy, ambient, folktronic …. strangeness, from the mind of Lee Hutzulak a.k.a. Dixie’s Death Pool. “Shape Operator” is from the album ‘Twin Galaxies’.

As you probably know Will Butler of Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett have been nominated for an Oscar for scoring Her. Strangely, this soundtrack won’t be purchasable in any form as of right now. It’s the only one of the Oscar nominated soundtracks that aren’t purchasable in some way. But you can still stream it below.

“her” Score by Arcade Fire from colinjburke on 8tracks Radio.

[Listen/Download] Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross- 5 tracks from The Social Network (Soundtrack)

The well talked about Facebook movie “The Social Network” comes out October 1st, 2010. A five track sampler EP is available for free download here(as well as the info to preorder the entire soundtrack). The tracks are electronic, but Trent and Atticus really make an effort to sound it organic. Judging by the music you can feel how dark the movie is. It’s completely instrumental but their experimentation with sounds and soundscapes make it worth a listen. Now who wants to watch the movie with me on the first?
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross- Pieces Form the Whole
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross- Eventually We Find Our Way

[Album Reviews] Sorcerer's Apprentice Soundtrack

No Comments 29 July 2010

by feeney

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is this summer’s Disney fantasy-adventure film, featuring the wonderful Nicolas Cage and delightfully awkward Jay Baruchel. The soundtrack for this film contains 22 scores, conducted and recorded by Trevor Rabin, which follow the main events of the film with an exciting orchestral sound.

[love this track]Metric- Eclipse (All Yours)

No Comments 26 July 2010

I hate twilight and will never watch any of the movies but I like this song and the soundtrack has pretty great artists such as Band of Horses, Metric, UNKLE, The Bravery and Vampire Weekend a great way to expose all those teeny boppers to better music I guess. Still Twilight sucks. This isn’t the great Metric track ever but its simple, catchy and for some reason I really love Emilly’s voice in this song.

The video for this song however sucks: Continue Reading

I have yet to see the movie, but I decided to explore the music. The soundtrack was written by Randy Newman who has scored the music for the past Toy Story movie’s as well and other Disney-pixar works such as “A Bug’s Life”, Cars, A Monster’s Inc and Princess and the Frog. Continue Reading

I had the time this weekend to go see the hilarious new movie Get Him to the Greek. It is a movie spinoff of “Aldous Snow” the crazy rockstar character that is seen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It’s created by the same people as Superbad so its one of those must see movies that you have to know is pretty stupid going in, but you will have a good time while watching it.. so if you’re a pretentious bastard GTFO!
