Party rappers Dream Jefferson are back with an EP titled Manchester Blue which is a completely free download on their Bandcamp. This one is less “party” rap sounding than their previous Punch Perm. It’s driven by synths and electro beats. Parts of it even have an indie-rock sensibility to it. This is especially apparent in Hannah. I love their continuous exploration of sound and this might be my favourite collection of their songs yet.

Here’s Cadence Weapon‘s new video for Get On Down. It was produced by Doldrums which is pretty why it’s fuckin’ weird.

I first heard about Unbuttoned a few weeks ago, but I fell in love with their EP on Bandcamp. Of course I jumped on the chance to see them live!

Opening up for them was rapper Relic and Fresh Kils on beats. I don’t listen to a lot of rap, but I thought they sure riled up the crowd. The one thing was that Fresh Kils wasn’t hooked up to a Macbook. He was making beats live.
There was only one opener, so Unbuttoned was on soon after.

I was pretty overwhelmed by the amount of people that were actually at the show. I had only heard of them, but the place was PACKED with dedicated fans. They did a great job of promoting themselves, and fans are still commenting on the event about how great the show was. For a group just starting out, it was one of the better performances I’ve seen so far. There was a ton of energy and people on stage and everybody was having a really great time. Their encore included a cover of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know which I uploaded below.

If your Monday still isn’t exciting enough let’s Turn it Up. This is a beat heavy one from Pip Skid’s latest People Are the Worst. I like to pretend I have lots of bling while waving my hands to the beats of this song.

Animal Mother is Kitchener, Ontario’s Harrison Platz. His style of rap is not your usual overly fast-talking type. It’s almost laid back as you hear in the following track Paranoia In Stereo. It’s slightly bizarre and weird.
