[Listen/Download] Marble Lion- Foliage

If you’re a fan of Braids, you might dig Montreal’s Marble Lion. Their Foliage EP was even mastered by Taylor Smith of Braids. Marble Lion is also an experimental noise-pop. Their 4 song EP is kind of a must-have since it’s free over at Bandcamp. It speaks to me, even though there isn’t much audible vocals.

I love French music and I was so excited when I found Wintermitts. They’re sparkling electro-pop is so bright and cheery. They have both English and French songs as demonstrated by their recent album Oceans, available on Bandcamp. The album was produced by Kees Dekker who’s worked with Plants and Animals and Rah Rah so you will hear some familiar sounding influences. Here’s the first track Le Paradis.

[Listen/Download] Doldrums- Jump Up

Electronic weirdo Doldrums shared a new track called Jump Up. The song is from the Egypt 12″ that will be released May 21st, 2012. Even in cacophony of samples, there’s melodic sense in this. It definitely makes me want to jump up.

[Listen/Download] Matthew De Zoete- Going Nowhere

From rural, Ontario Matthew de Zoete aims to create a collection of succinct songs that would fit a short film. Hence his record Colour Film was born. His voice sounds very real, effortless. Even with all the atmospheric textures there’s something about it that doesn’t seem too manufactured and still kind of rootsy. Hell, he even filmed some Southern Souls videos at the farm. Here’s Going Nowhere. There are a couple of more free tunes off his album on Bandcamp, as well as the full record.

[Listen] Bruce Peninsula- Of Songs

No Comments 15 May 2012

by teepoo

Whoa, here is a 14 minute long new track by Bruce Peninsula called Of Songs. It may seem long, but the song seems to be divided into parts of gospel, folk and root country stuff. Maybe the intention of the one track is so you’ll hear the parts as a whole. It’s not my favourite thing they’ve released, but kind of neat.
