I love French music and I was so excited when I found Wintermitts. They’re sparkling electro-pop is so bright and cheery. They have both English and French songs as demonstrated by their recent album Oceans, available on Bandcamp. The album was produced by Kees Dekker who’s worked with Plants and Animals and Rah Rah so you will hear some familiar sounding influences. Here’s the first track Le Paradis.

The Crackling is the project of Vancouverite Kenton Loewen. The project also has a bunch of special guests such as Dan Mangan and Eyvind Kang. Check out this track from his upcoming Ashen EP to be released next week on May 22nd. It has a special appearance from the Vancouver’s Children choir at it’s climax.

From rural, Ontario Matthew de Zoete aims to create a collection of succinct songs that would fit a short film. Hence his record Colour Film was born. His voice sounds very real, effortless. Even with all the atmospheric textures there’s something about it that doesn’t seem too manufactured and still kind of rootsy. Hell, he even filmed some Southern Souls videos at the farm. Here’s Going Nowhere. There are a couple of more free tunes off his album on Bandcamp, as well as the full record.
