Montreal’s Philippe Brach plays out the apocalypse on “La fin du monde.” Soaring strings loop around soft, fuzzy guitars and a looming drum beat to create a sombre, dark atmosphere. The chamber pop and folk rock instrumentation paints a black sky, which looms large over this desolate, abandoned wasteland. With grand scope and intimate production, the track feels at once infinite and finite.

Phillipe Brach’s new album Le silence des troupeaux is out now.
