After 7 years, Hamilton band Prophets have decided to call it a day and bid us farewell. Out for one last short tour, they came through St. Catharines to say goodbye to the fans who have been riding with them all this time.
Coldfront opened up the show at Mikado, in its dark cavern-like space (that is hell for photographers, let me tell you) followed by locals, Sinner, and Black Heart.
Everyone piled in for Prophets when they took the stage, with the lead singer Ian on the floor right in the thick of it. The show ended like you might expect – there was hugging, and yelling, and with Ian reminding us to keep going to shows, and keep supporting local music.
It’s always oddly touching to be in attendance at shows like these, the ones where things are ending. It reminds you how important these shows are to the local scene, and how much a band means to the people in the pit.
Prophets final farewell show will take place in Hamilton at Club Absinthe on November 25th with Coldfront, Ritual, and Kennedy supporting.
