On Wednesday, Partner returned to Toronto to play The Horseshoe Tavern. Along for the ride was Ottawa’s Thrifty Kids and Toronto’s Bueller.
Thrifty Kids began the night with sunny surf pop tunes that were lighthearted, fun and dreamy.
Bueller brought surf vibes too but had an aggressiveness in their delivery in songs like “Beach Bod” that I fell in love with. Their drummer was standout for me taking occasional vocal duties and counting them in with loud 1 2 3s.
There’s not much I can say about Partner that I haven’t mentioned in the past. But GO SEE THEM. You will never regret it. They managed to blow out their guitar speakers but never failed to keep the crowd engaged. Their live shows are a blast of songs that others might deem inappropriate to sing about but promise to deliver a great time.
