Weird Tuesday EP Highlight: ‘Your Father’s Mistakes’ really does defy categorization, making it difficult for the likes of us to explain it. But, we can’t exactly just say, “It’s really good. Just listen to it.”, can we? OK, so here goes. Although the music bears much in common with post-punk/goth-wave, it would be deceiving to simply leave it at that because there are so many contemporary post-rock elements. Furthermore, despite sounding a little like Nick Cave going darkwave (or maybe he did already?), the singing has that clearer indie tone to it. That should give you your bearings, but it is also worth noting that Pelter truly excels at clever compositions and song structures that twist and turn unexpectedly.
