by Tiana Feng I ended my Friday night at Adelaide Hall where I caught Evy Jane, Mas Ysa and Ryan Hemsworth, who took the stage at 2am. — When I got to Adelaide, Evy Jane were almost done their set. Evelyn Manson enthralled with her gentle vocals while producer Jeremiah Klein paired them with the perfect beats. — One of my favourite NXNE performances was Mas Ysa. I had only heard his music the week prior to the festival and he was on my radar of musicians to see. I am always skeptical of the one man, producer/singer combo type things as they can be a disaster/super boring if not done well. However, this was not one of those times. Mas Ysa (real name Thomas Aresenault), performed his unique electronic pop songs with such passion that it was so hard not to get sucked in. He had this super intense face throughout and I just couldn’t stop watching and listening to what he had to offer. — I really needed a Ryan Hemsworth live fix lately, so I stayed up until 2am for his set. I’m so glad I did. He kept the partying going at Adelaide until 4am. He’s like the king of super random remixes throwing everything from video game music to R Kelly, to a little bit of N’sync. Oh, and the best part was 3/4 of the way through where he threw McDonalds hamburgers into the audience. Ryan Hemsworth > The Pizza Underground.
