by Tiana Feng Doors were open at 7 for what was supposed to be an early show at Wrongbar last night. But who were they kidding? Early shows don’t happen, especially on Queen West. It wasn’t until nearing 9 that DJ Moon King got the party started. Phedre gave the audience a glimpse of their upcoming Golden Age with tunes so fresh Daniel Lee began the set reading lyrics off a piece of paper. The “experience” was somewhat toned down compared to their usual onstage shenanigans, delivery more focused on getting their new songs across. Most memorable was a song protesting against misogyny. — This was my third time this year seeing Blue Hawaii. The best thing about them is that their set is slightly varied each time they come to Toronto. They eased in this set, taking their sweet time with much slower versions of “In Two” and “Sweet Tooth.” It progressed to a very house/trance sounding dance set and the Wrongbar got quite sweaty as everyone couldn’t help dancing.
