Matt Mays is one of Eastern Canada’s most popular rockers. After a long absence, Mays released a new album titled Coyote on September 4th, featuring the song Chase the Light. My first listen left me unsatisfied – the song is calm, quiet, and a bit mournful – not the usual catchy rock tune that I’d expected. But upon learning that this is the album’s closing track, I understood. This a conclusion; a look forward at things to come and a vow to keep moving on. The song itself is relaxing, featuring a soothing acoustic guitar and Mays’ raw vocals, drawing the album elegantly to a close.
