John Maus @ Lee's Palace 06/15/2012
I really did not understand the appeal of John Maus performance. It consisted of him jumping around and wailing on stage with no instruments in sight. You’d expect the Ariel Pink/Animal Collective keyboardist at least be one of those solo acts with a keyboard, but nothing. It was a full set of just watching a sweaty guy shout things. What was more strange was that it was a packed house at Lee’s and everyone was loving it, or tripping on drugs. I found it really hard to hate on the dude after I found out how humble he actually is when people approached him congratulating on a great performance. He seemed just as surprised as I was.
