FU (pronounced as “eff you” not FOO) flew all the way from Tokyo to come and perform at Indie Week. Last night they came along with a posse which did some crazy dances to the other bands. The band kicked off their set when their lead singer started some operatic throat singing of the “AH” vowel. Only Japanese bands can get away with weird things like this without seeming ridiculous. It definitely captured my attention. Their style was J-pop/rock mixed with a tinge of American influenced indie rock. I actually really enjoyed their set, but they’re pretty hard to Google, mainly because because I can’t read Japanese. Somehow I found a video of them on Youtube complete with English translation for the song!

Why do lame lyrics sound better in Japanese?
