[Album Review]Apocalyptica- 7th Symphony

I’m so excited to see Apocalyptica on August 23 at Sound Academy. 7th Symphony comes out August 24th, but I got a chance to listen to it before hand.

If you haven’t heard of Apocalyptica they are the most awesome metal cello band around. Originally from Finland the group consists of 3 classicaly trained cellist and a drummer. They have a tradition on each album of having 4 tracks that feature vocals. This time around it will be Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf, Joe Dumplantie of Gojira, Gavin Rosedale of Bush and Brent Smith of Shinedown.

The album itself is classic Apocalyptica. The titles of the track really say a lot about the song. “Beautiful” is so lush and full of romance it fills me with crazy longing for it to never end. Also you would never know, that the group recorded this buck naked in the studio. Call it some crazy inspiration eh? “On the Rooftop With Quasimodo” you can hear the path of a character that is dark but so lonely, confused and frustrated. Flyleaf singer Lacey really does good on “Broken Pieces” works well with Apocalyptica to create an enjoyable catchy track, but Lacey outshines Apocalyptica a little bit on this one. All together the album cohesively made sense and is worth the listen if you’re an Apocalyptica fan! I can’t wait to see them live for the first time!
